🌿 Spring fashion trends we're falling for

· 621 words · about 3 minutes

As we emerge, blinking in the gorgeous sunshine from our extended ‘lockdown’ hibernation, here we continue our focus on what trends will help put a spring in your step this April.

Relaxed workwear
The buzz word here is ‘slouchy tailoring’. Wide-legged, drawstring waisted trousers ooze continental style but retain that much needed comfort we all crave.

A few key pieces chosen well, teamed with easy to mix and match separates will take you effortlessly from online meeting or daily walk, through to a catch up with friends outside in the park.

Focus on what’s up top!
During the last year, we have all been living our lives on Zoom or Teams calls, so why not add a touch of glamour to your look by adding a colourful head scarf or a detachable collar to your outfit?

Oversized collars made it straight off the catwalk and are everywhere – they really are the simplest way to make a statement. Try them over a slouchy jumper for an instant hit of glamour.

Prints, prints, prints.

There is a simple reason floral patterns pop up on runways and Instagram feeds every spring—they always feel fresh and cheery - which is exactly what we all need right now!

Feel-good, floral print separates like our gorgeous jeans, look great rolled at the ankle with flat pumps - and are both stylish and comfortable.

And our love for that timeless trend – the animal print - is not disappearing anywhere soon. The main reason is that these prints – leopard, zebra, tiger - make any outfit look daring, bold and sophisticated so why not bring out your inner animal and show-off your individuality this season?

Dreaming of the beach? Aren’t we all!
As many of us swap travelling abroad for a closer to home ‘stay-cation’, our holiday packing list is looking a little
different this year.

Wherever you escape to, make sure you think beach prints and platform espadrilles.

Top off that carefree, laid-back and relaxed vibe with a Mary Poppins bag – and by that we mean ‘you can fit anything and everything’ into one of the seasons must-haves – a roomy, over the shoulder, tote bag.

As it gets warmer, hemlines are a’rising.

Yes, it’s time to show off those legs and slip into a 60s-inspired, micro skirt or mini-slip dresses. Pretty, pastel sheer fabrics make these feminine and floaty – simply perfect for a picnic in the park or a family BBQ.

Second skim tops
Worn as a base layering piece, this is essentially one top under another. Just throw an oversized, slouchy jumper on top for a more relaxed and effortless look. And we’re just saying that pretty bras or camisoles underneath can peek through… if you dare!

It’s all about your accessories.
Don’t forget to dress up your ears, wrists, fingers, and necks with some serious accessorising!

Edgy chains and link necklaces are here to stay, so make sure yours stands out even more with a large pendant.

Gold is huge right now as are hoop (and mismatched) earrings, pretty pearls or anything rainbow coloured.

Not sure where to start or what would suit you? Don’t forget SoYouBoutique are happy to help advise and guide you with your spring wardrobe conundrums - simply just drop us a line or pop in and see us – we are here to help.
